| As
National Poetry Day fell in Hastings Week, we were in a celebratory mood
in October. Earlyworks Press teamed up with Hastings Writers Group to
run a series of events in Hastings shopping Mall which kicked off with
an exhibition of small press poetry books.
Terry Sorby launched his poetry collection 'Beyond the Greyscale' - here he is signing a copy for local author Victoria Seymour...
and presenting a copy to the mayor, for whom he had composed a poem... |
During the evening in the Mall, we encouraged passers by to help us in the composition of an off-the-cuff poem...
...and then the mayor announced the winners of the Poets in Hastings Competition.
The top ten entries were written by Stephanie Morris Sarah Rajabalee Hilary Rowland Kim Wan Anthony Frost Penelope Salmon Francis Raynor Daisy Lawrence Sylvia Ross and Dave Arnold Stephanie Morris receives her prize from the mayor
Earlyworks Press would like to thank Kate O'Hearn for designing the displays, Bullet Coffee House in Robertson St, The Rooms in St Leonards and McCarron's Gift Shop in Norman Road for donating prizes. |
