Lincolnshire. A fan of all things fantasy and inspired by writers such
as Stephen Donaldson and Edgar Rice Burroughs, Lovesey launched his
Portal Chronicles series in 2006.Having

The
majority of independent high street shops offer excellent service,
including personal recommendations, and a much wider knowledge of books
based on their own passion for reading and literature. Many also offer
mail order services, or act as centres for community activities.
In
recent years, competition from supermarkets, high street chains, charity
shops, and large internet discounting operations has led to the closure
of many independent ’bricks and mortar’
booksellers throughout the UK. The aim of www.localbookshops.co.uk
is
to raise public awareness of the services available from their local
bookshop, at the same time offering a central link for authors,
publishers,
booksellers, and discerning book buyers ... without whom the book
industry would cease to exist!

very interesting list.

direct from the author on request.)

If you have read about our
High Fantasy Challenge, you
might like to join in the debate about the future (or lack of it) for High
Fantasy. You could start by sampling "Legend" where you can read Arthurian and
romantic fantasy, and articles on alternative history, myth and magic. Legend,
and other publications from Trevor Denyer are on sale at
www.midnightstreet.co.uk. While
you're there, take a look at the latest issue of Midnight Street magazine,
out now. And if there are any copies left of the issue of Roadworks
magazine which included Gary Couzens story 'Eggshells', buy one!
(Why? Because it's Kay's favourite.) |

publications, lesser known publishing houses and specialist bookshops.
You can recommend your favourites, and discuss and review the books on

books, competitions, events and magazines, the website also has a
bibliography of more than 570 titles to date; articles about story

www.southpoetry.org
SOUTH is published twice yearly, and features 60 or so poems written in
English, and previously unpublished. Selection is anonymous, and is made by

a poet associated with SOUTH, accompanied by a selection of their poems.
SOUTH encourages the poets it publishes to meet each other by inviting them
to take part in public readings that launch each issue. |
